Who in there right mind would want to move to Wisconsin? I live in PA and I am ready to trade in my white snow piles for sandy white beaches. Is the Bradenton palnt still open in FL?

The next three pumpers for Miami-Dade will be assigned to E-7's E-30's & E-45's. E-7's current rig a 2007 Velocity/PUC will go to E-15's.

I'm going to guess that the 3 new Pierce Arrow XT PUC's won't be in service by the end of march. Does anybody know for sure? The Velocity PUC at E7 is on my photo trip hit list, and I'm just trying to figure out what station it will be at.

I noticed the Ladders are Velocity with Code Three Screaming Eagle Sirens but the PUC is an Arrow XT with a Q siren. Why the differnce, just interested? Look like really nices rigs love the retro light bar, although Engine and Rescue Three are super sharp.

Off the Subject, does anyone think the Federal Signal Power Light could return with PAR 36 LED bulbs? I miss the days of standing up or sitting down with the soft spin red and white power light hitting the night with the Q siren wrapped-out, good times.

Less Plastic on the Dashboard and engine cowlings for One......and the electronics.....the Velocity is going to be a nightmare for chasing electrical problems with all the I/O modules all over the truck and a VERY complicated electronics panel in the Officer's footwell area....XT is much more ruggedized and simpler electronics......Most of us that run calls all day want RUGGEDIZED - METAL interiors...NOT Cheep vacuumed formed plastic...Arrow XT is the way to go....The XT/PUC combo used by Miami Dade is a great combination in my opinion....I just bought a Velocity....The guys love it...great ride....QUIET as hell.....but next one will be an XT.

I agree the new rigs any brand are very plastic except if you spec extreme duty. I saw an Arrow XT and it was nice very rugged. My hope is our next rig with be an Arrow XT but our area seems to be going Velocity or Impel. KCFD has two Velocity Towers on order, I was shocked they need the Arrow XT like we do. It reminds me of our old rigs with metal dashes and floors no only the seats were plastic.

Great photos Alex! Is the current E27 a later-model Quantum like most of the other BSFR engines?

And a quick question for the Miami-Dade people - does Florida City have its own fire-rescue agency or are they covered by Miami-Dade? I was just looking and it seems the nearest stations are 16 and 65 in Homestead...

srq2009,

Correct, I believe the retired E67 (later-model Quantum) that served Weston was put back in frontline status as E27.

As to Florida City... MDFR Station-16 (Homestead/Florida City) & Station-65 (East Homestead) provide services.

Hey Alex, here's a shot of your HazMat from days gone by. It was on a 1963 Ford chassis.

Mark,

I'm going to guess that 1963 was a typo, and it should have been 1983. The former Hazmat definetely doesn't look like a 63.

You're probably right. Are you sure you're not related to my wife? I mean, give me a break - I only missed it by 2!
