FLORIDA RIGS
|
Finally we were able to get couple patches of blue sky... Patrick (Shoop), Tim & I decided to head southwest into Cutler Bay, Homestead & Florida City before meeting up with Ray (rckt29) at the airport (MDFR Station-12).
Ray, thankyou for posing all rigs and giving us a great tour of Station-12.
A friend of mine emailed me this picture today. Fort Lauderdale's Fire Investigator's are getting issued these new F-150's to replace a mix of SUV's and Astro-Vans. These will allow more space for equipment, as well as keep it (and its contaminants and hazards) seperate from the passenger area of the vehicle.
Very nice.....more functional...
I know there is a difference in Miami the City and Miami Dade, but I thought Miami Dade was the dept for the city? Can anyone shed some light?

I'm not the subject matter expert on this, but I'll shoot and see how close I get. Miami City covers just the city of Miami. Miami-Dade County covers all the unicorporated areas of Miami-Dade County that don't have their own fire services. One County, One city, the city's in the county, and they both have their own fire departments. Sorta like Baltimore City and Baltimore County, or Los Angeles City/County I think. kyle

kyle[/quote] I too am not 'the expert' but I will second your answer. Miami-Dade covers all unincorporated areas although Hialeah, Key Biscayne, Miami, Miami Beach and Coral Gables all have their own departments and their own EMS services. I'm not sure how much crossover there is in terms of mutual aid/auto aid although I would guess there is some.

I'll agreew with the last two positings. We have visited most of the departments listed except Hialeah, and Miami Beach which will hopefully occur sometime in the next 5 days. I can say this, if you want pictures stay in Miami-Dade County. They have treated us very well on this trip. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hail.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I can't say the same for Coral Gables, and especially Miami, and Key Biscayne!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />
Any reason why some of the MIA units are a "mustard" yellow with red stripes vs the traditional MDFR scheme?
