This 100' Maxim F served as Ladder 1 from 1967-1976, then as Ladder 2 until 2008. As of October, 2008, it was still at Station 4. Jamestown purchased a Pirsch 100' rearmount (3147) in 1976 that failed its test in 1991. The Pirsch was replaced by a 1991 Pierce Arrow 1500/500/105' (E-6546). The Maxim was surviving with a tired Waukesha and the Pirsch had a Detroit in excellent condition. Jamestown Firefighters rebuilt the Maxim using the Detroit out of the Pirsch. The new motor was wider than the Waukesha had been and the larger engine box left no room for the jumpseats. The guys then widened the rear half of each cab side in order to make room for the jumpseats, copying the concept utilized by the ALF Century and Hahn 84/92 cabs. In 2008, Jamestown purchased a new Pierce Velocity 1500/500/105' (20441) for Ladder 1, moving the 1991 Arrow to Ladder 2. When I was there in October, it was waiting on a contract to be awarded for a complete refurb. The plan was to return the Maxim to Ladder 2 status during the time the Arrow was out for refurb.

At first, I wasn't sure if this was the 1969 or the 1972, but either way it's a 1250/750 and it's x-Lakewood, NY. After a second look, I noticed the ALF compartments and ALF Red paint. The 1972 was refurbed by ALF, the 1969 wasn't. At one time, Lakewood had four Maxim S apparatus, pumpers from 1964, 1969 and 1972 and an 85' service aerial from 1971.
