That Frontenac rig shot was from the fully involved vacant house at the end of Town and Country Lane. I still have those pictures. That was a good night of buffing! Maybe from 1983 or 1984???



Yep, it's pretty cool to see those old rig shots, of how apparatus has evolved over the years. I forgot that Chesterfield's Ambulance 307 had a Q on it. For all the out of town buffs, Chesterfield Fire District is now the Monarch Fire District, and their apparatus is white-over-red, with an all-Pierce fleet, except for the Sutphen spare pumper (if they still have it).

Thanks Jeff, I actually was guessing the number because I couldn't remember. I knew you would keep me honest! I am going to post the pictures of this fire when I get a chance so add yours or get it started and I'll add mine.

It's hard to believe Lemay used to have 2 Ford Cs, compared to what they've had since then. Good to see the old 42 again!

St. Louis FD has bids out for PUMPERS. The City Journal on the City of St. Louis web site verifies that. Anyone know how many?

That's a start! I'm guessing 9 next year as well, and 6 the following year, depending upon the budget?!



I'm assuming that when they've bought 24 pumpers that they'll be keeping 1 quint in each of the 6 battalions and 1 Hook & Ladder in each of the 6 battalions?

Matt, do you remember if Lemay 41 had a Q in between the headlights, that that was how you could tell the difference between 41 and 42, since 42's Q was mounted below the bumper?

Sounds valid to me. Yet, it's ALL dependant on the budget. There may be less engine houses and fewer men on the truck shortly. It's all how much public safety Mayor slayer is going to cut. The airport director has already gone against STLFD, the Chief, local 73 and 2665, and all of the surrounding departments on closing the 3rd firehouse at the airport. Which means 15 firefighters and 2 captains will be sent back to the city.





I think it's fair to say that there will be at least one quint per district. If they are going to add another H&L is unknown. If I find out more, I'll be sure to fill you in.

Yeah, it's "funny" how these cities want to cut the fire department first because "no one's afraid of fire." They're afraid of crime and, while cops do get cut here and there, the majority of the time it's the fire departments that take the hit and not the cops. Put these f---ing politicians in turnout gear and SCBA and let them ride along with the busiest companies and see what it's like to work for a living and experience how difficult it is to "do more with less", as they like to say/think so often.



Jenkins needs to grow some cojonies and take the fight to the media like it hasn't been done so far. The citizens of not only St. Louis but the entire metro area need to be better informed of the repercussions that could occur with doing more with less. Closing fire stations and decreasing manpower are not the answer, though it may appear to be to politicians AND citizens alike. Fires are still going to happen, as well as EMS runs.



How many people need to die before the madness stops?!



It'll be interesting to see what the new pumpers will look like and which manufactuer gets the bid.
