I believe this truck was purchased off the floor at the 1980 NYS Chief's convention. Rumor on this truck was that it was originally part of an order for San Fransisco CA. It was replaced around 1999 with a new KME Excel pumper.

This rig replaced Fairview's famed Ahrens Fox Quad with the 70ft. midship aerial. It didn't stick around too long and was replaced in the early 1980's by a Pierce Arrow LTI rearmount. A friend of mine who is a paid firefighter in Fairview related that this truck was severly underpowered making it a dog on the hills around the district. Fairfiew had two other Sanford's both engines. The first, a 1965 was rebuilt by Pierce with a 50ft. Telesquirt sometime around 1980 and retired in the mid-1990's. The second was a 1972; it too was rebuilt in the early 1980's with a new E\-One body. I am not aware of how much longer this engine served before being retired. Must have been neat though in the early '70's to see a whole fleet of custom Sanfords <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

You are correct . This apparatus was replaced after only 9 years or so of service. More info to follow on its current location and status.

Is this the department that is no longer in service? I thought I had heard that one of the Town of Niagara departments was shut down.

John: You are correct this department was closed by the local township after the department got into some severe financial trouble. The Spartan/RD Murray pumper was seen in a used fire truck paper and I am unsure where this one ended up. The department also operated a tandem axle E\-One pumper equipped with a mid-mount Teleboom and this rig ended up in a department outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Seagrave engines were all on early 1970's vintage. The one in the middle with the blue top was a 1976 and had stars and bars on the it. The Alf was a 60's midmount 85' (I believe). I don't remember the ward la-france and the bread truck at the end was their rescue. That was replace with a Brockway/Saulsbury heavy rescue a year or so after this picture was taken. I think that this picture was taken at the opening of this station (station 2) on Watervliet Shaker Rd.

S.W. Pitts Hose AKA Latham Fire Department is Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. They will be having a parade sometime in August.
