Holy cow Mark, you've uncovered the E\-One Quest of ambulances!!! That's by far the ugliest ambulance I've EVER seen!! Looks like some Matchbox car gone wrong!

Pickens County bought several of these rigs. They carry 1500 gallons of water and 30 gallons of foam.

I don't know anything about this rig other than that it's a 200? Ford F550. I shot it at an MVC yesterday. It's a mini-pumper of sorts from Gilmer County, GA Fire & Rescue and is designated Squad 1.

A typical GAF "Fire Knocker". Unless they've made some changes to it, the pump is rated at 140GPM and the tank holds 900 gallons. There are a couple hundred of these across the State.

For many rural Georgia communities, the Knocker was the only apparatus they had. Many were equipped with ground ladders. As time went on and the apparatus situation improved, the Knockers were reduced to the tanker or brush role.

Yep, I fought many a house fire on the end of a 1.5" line off a "fire knocker".

Today I visited the Peachtree Vol. Fire Dept. in Murphy, NC. They are in a brand new station and the dude there, Cody, was very gracious and pulled everything out for me. The clouds weren't too cooperative but the pictures came out ok I guess. First up is one that was broken down but I managed to shoot it a few months ago. It is a 1975 Chevrolet C65/FMC Bean 350/1000 Pumper as Tanker 1562 SO#9660.
