Kansas City area fire apparatus
[quote name='MFD 61 KS' date='03 March 2010 - 02:56 PM' timestamp='1267648593' post='367764']

Shawnee, Kansas Fire Department

This unit runs as the second piece at Fire House 1 with an engine and is replacing a 1989 E\-One Hurricane 80ft Ladder (Quint71).

Truck 71

2010 Pierce Velocity

105ft Ladder

2000/500/CAFS

#22706

Ground Ladders: 14 roof, 16 roof, 24 2-section, 35 2-section, Little Giant, booster reel, and front bumper winch, E-Q2b siren, and code three siren. Shawnee departed from the REAL Q sirens in 2003.

IMO: It is set up as a really big Engine Company with CAFS and the small amount of ground ladders, booster reel. Oh well to each their own. Every rig in Shawnee has a winch.

PUMPER 2 and MEDIC 3 mark the END of Yellow for Grandview. Yes another metro department returns to RED <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Luxhello' />

Grandview has three fire houses and operates Two Medic units M-1 M-3 and Asst. Chief from Fire House 1. They operate One Engine P-2 from Fire House 2, and One 105ft Quint T-3 from Fire House 3. They have suffered staffing shortages over the years which lead to the Local and Department agreeing to close Pumper 1 and staff two Medic units. This allow Pumper 2 and Truck 3 to have three-four person staffing instead of two person staffing.

The Grill is FAKE part of the 2003 refurb, so it would match the fleet. Also the White top was added.

Now here is my rant, What a bunch of <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bitch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Holes. I asked very nicely to have the rig pulled out, they said can't you shot it from inside. OK That always chaps me, What about the Brother Hood. Especially when you are just milling around in the bay. I should have gotten a clue from the one word answers. Oh well Pumper 2 was out on the ramp already.

Grandview Pumper 1 grill to no where. They had the area behind the grill painted black and added the grill. The grill was kind of expensive, but they wanted to match current Reserve called Pumper 1 a 1997 Dash and current Truck 3 a 2001 Dash 105ft. They also removed the two clear Code Three Osis-Lazers and had the Federal LED's added on the lower front area.

LSFD answers from seven fire houses with five engine's 1,4,5,6,7, two quints T2 T3, five ALS ambulances, Battalion Chief, and a Asst Chief (City Wide Tour Commander). The two Quints Truck 2,3 cross-staff the brush buggy's. Pumper 1 and Rescue 1 (Box) cross staff Squad 1 the heavy rescue and Haz-Mat 1 the metro wide AFFF foam bank. They have a new Pierce PUC 105ft comming for Truck 2 to replace the 1999 Pierce Lance 105ft all steer quint.

Rear of Pumper 1. Ground Ladders are in the cabinet in the hose bed. LSFD went from standard engine's to rescue pumpers in the early 1990's. They also at that time went to the ten man Lance cab. The early rescue pumpers had a command desk in the jump seat area. That is when they changed from calling them Engine to Pumper.

Mechanical engineers build weapons, whereas civil engineers build targets.

When the man at the door said," Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms", I, naturally assumed it was a delivery!

Thank you for the info. The driver was a great guy but I felt weird about asking him to step out so I could get the year. Thanks again.

One of Two Pumps purchased. One is assigned to Engine 21 and second is assigned to Engine 22. Engine 22's 2006 Ferrara Inferno is now the reserve and Engine 23 had kept their 2004 Pierce Dash. Both 2001 Ferrara Inferno Pumps have been disposed of and are now for sale through Brindle Mountain Fire Apparatus.

Johnson County Fire Alarm Exchange was at my Fire House today conducting the new 700 radio training. Being on duty it provided a great opportunity to get photos of the two new CFD2 pumps.
