Quote:I found this old ladder truck sitting off Highway 18 South of Gaffney, SC. It was inside a fenced in lot so I was not able to any info on it.

It appears to be a 1957-1970 Seagrave 70th Anniversary Series 75'.

I'd throw money those Walter rigs are Ex- Port Authority of NY and NJ rigs.

Only fire rigs I know of with 'Police' on them. And they had a few Walters in service.

Stay safe, Brothers.

Port Authority of NY and NJ never had any of the medium sized Walter B1500 model crash trucks like the two pictured here. Also, the CB3000 is a newer model than the ones that were in NY and NJ. The three rigs here could very well be ex-Raleigh/Durham rigs. Won't put my money on that unless we get a closer shot.

Stay safe,

I found this Annivesary series Seagrave 100' TDA, ex- Savannah Ldr7, last week behind a fence at the Savannah GA Roundhouse Railroad Museum. I couldn't find any other info on the rig. It is fairly rusty apparently sitting outside for some time. I was told that there are plans to restore it as a parade piece at some future date. FLJackphoto.

That rig has been sitting out there for at least 10-15 years. As I recall, it's a 1957, but I can't swear to that. One of our "quiet" members from Durham, NC has taken photos of it years back and probably has more accurate info, maybe even a serial number.

Steve,

From Al Powell's files:

1972 PemFab/Imperial, Cincinnati canopy cab, 1000/500, borough insisted on being gas powered rather than diesel because at time of purchase municipal trash trucks were gas powered and borough supplied fuel and did not want to deviate to diesel, $42,000, replaced 1950 Maxim, Waukesha F817 gas motor, Spicer manual trans, Imperial no.I-551, model D-10, delvd 4-72, 178 in.WB, in 1992 borough requested bids for replacement-bids came back too high and borough reneged on purchase, in 1996 replaced and offered for sale-2 bids recd-low $550-high-$2533.30 from Burley Grimes-TX broker who purchased 3-96, re-sold to Combine (Henderson Co.),TX, in 2001 sold to Ada (Pontotoc Co.),OK through Firetec. Originally purchased by the Pioneer Fire Company of Jenkintown (Montgomery County, PA).

Is it currently in service at Chickasaw Nation ?

Many thanks,

Not a crash rig buff. Didn't realize more than one police agency did CFR.

Thanks for the correction.

Stay safe as well.

A heavily scrapped ALF remains were pointed out to me tonight while hanging out with Norfolk, CT. A reg plate was still intact and read L5196, the truck was apparently bought by Norfolk as a parts truck for their 1963.

Hoss,

That's gone to 700 heaven ... see if you could at least save the Registered Number plate for a collection or museum.
