Winfield, Kansas Fire House

This is the oldest active fire house in Kansas 1886. The three bays were orginally where the arches are on the side with the fire department sign. In 1931 the fire house was reovated and the bay were moved to the current location. It has two brass poles.

Olathe Fire Department Fire House One sign from 1912 fire house.

This sign is from the second fire house one 1912. The sign was one solid piece, but was split in 1971 when it was transfered to the third fire house one. Again in 1983 it was moved to the fourth fire house one, where it remains

Olathe Fire Department ex Fire House One at Kansas and Santa Fe. This was the third Fire House One in Olathe from 1971-1983. It was designed for a second floor but was never added. This fire house was built because of the new Snorkel Truck. In 1983 the Public Safety Complex was built and the Fire Chief unsuccesfully tried to keep this fire house open in downtown. The 1912 second Fire House One sat directly across the street where the county jail is now located.

third Olathe, Kansas Fire House Two built 1989

Note current Fire House Four was the second Fire House Two from 1971-1989. Two's was moved to the current fire house and less than a year later the city determinded that the old fire house was needed so Fire House Four was opened in old Two's. The orginal Fire House Two to my knowledge does not exist anymore and was a hand drawn cart in the late 1883-1912.

first Olathe, Kansas Fire Department Fire House Seven

Rented 2005-2007 garage conversion was done to hold mini-engine Squad 7.

built 1970's

This Fire House was delyed a few years. After a four fire deaths in one house fire less than a mile away the city rented a house with empty swiming pool and converted the garage and emergency purchased a mini-engine. It was decided the conversion to hold a Class A Engine would be to costly. So when the Squad was OOS the three person crew would move to a Class A Engine and relocate to Fire House Three until the Squad returned to from the service center.
