I'm bringing this thread back from the dead with some rig shots from a fire in downtown Renton tonight. I couldn't get close because somehow I missed this on my scanner until it was about a 3rd alarm level plus strike teams from Seattle, so I don't really have any fire shots.

Here's South King Fire & Rescue Engine 66, a KME.

On the right is King County Medic One Medic 5. You can sorta see Renton Ladder 14 peeking over the left side of the tree. This is the one fire shot I have -- I figure it's pointless to start a separate thread in the scene forum, so hopefully putting it here is okay.

This is all I was really able to get that was any good. The light conditions were getting bad and it was hard to get around with all of the cops there. At least this thread isn't dead yet!

Great shots Bryce. Do you know what type of business or structure was involved in this fire? Thanks again for the photos.

WoW never thought I would see Seattle in Black Gear and Tradtional Fire Helmets. When did they switch back?

For Dave -- there's a bunch of old antique stores in downtown Renton. This was in one of those. They all share walls, so it's pretty much a miracle that they kept it to one building. It could've easily taken the entire square block.

For KS -- SFD switched to black gear with traditional helmets a couple years back. Many departments in the area are doing the same.

I was there too last night! I wasn't there with my camera though. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' /> We arrived about 7:30ish, when they had it under control, then went to eat. While we were eating, I had a clear view of the smoke from the new area "The Landing" and watched the fire take over again. So we headed back there and stayed till 10:15ish when it was pretty much out. I was talking with one of the tenants, but I don't think the totality of it had hit him yet. But everyone made it out ok and so did the cats.

Bryce, do you know if H&W is still building their own line or if Crimson put a stop to it? They built some nice functional apparatus.

They're still building their own rigs. See www.hwev.com for their website. The first due engine to my house is an '06 Spartan/H&W. My parents live in Kirkland which has an entire fleet of Spartan H&W rigs, all with very low hosebeds.

Here's some shots from early in the fire. Lots of apparatus photos of rigs arriving.

This 3 alarm fire took place on the evening of May 20th. Location, Richards Road, one block north of I-90, in the Factoria section of Bellevue, Washington. There was fire through the roof of a two story commercial office building. They made a good stop trenching the roof and keeping the damage to the south half of the building. Units from Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Eastside Fire and Rescue turned out. I arrived around 7 PM, two hours into it, and just before the 3rd alarm when out. The police blocked the way to the exposure two side where the Kirkland units were operating, so I couldn't shoot them. I did get a lot of apparatus shots, so I'll post some tonight with the rest to follow.
