Finally for now is this relic, I believe it has been Posted before. This Fmr Sylva Eng 1. 1976 AmericanLafrance pioneer , Parked out in front of Burger Shak in Sylva NC.
Awesome pics Gary! I wish I'd known you were coming up and I'd have joined ya! When you shot those Canton trucks, you were only about 10 minutes from my station. I have chased down Asheville's "new" Haz-Mat 2 for about 4 months now! Every single time I went to Station 11 or Station 2 to shoot it, they would be out on a call, or as soon as I'd approach the station, the Zetron would go off and they'd have to respond. You're officially the first fire-trucker to shoot it! It's a 1996 Pierce Arrow 4x4 heavy rescue that used to serve Creve Couer, Missouri as "Squad 2316." They got it used through Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus earlier in the year, around February if I'm not mistaken.
Now, going in reverse... -The ALF Pioneer you found in Sylva at the Burger Shak formerly served Sylva, NC. It was painted yellow, but the Burger Shak guys painted it red. -Santeelah's brush truck, that's another truck you've got me one-upped on! I've been to Graham County, but never been to that station. I've only shot the Robbinsville and Stecoah stations in Graham County. Looks like an interesting rig you found there! Any idea who made the body on it? -Cedar Mountain "Squad 126" CMVFD bought this truck used from Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania a couple years ago. Ran as Engine 81 up there if I'm not too mistaken. -Canton "Brush 21" has indeed been refurbed. It began life as a 1977 Dodge 300/E-One minipumper. One of the firefighters (that still works there believe it or not!) was responding in this truck on Champion Drive, on the back side of the Blue Ridge Paper Mill back in the early 1990's. I'm not sure if he took a curve too fast, or if someone hit him, or what happened, but the truck ended up on its top in the middle of Champion Drive. The town decided the body off the truck was still in good enough shape, so they remounted the body on a 1993 Chevrolet chassis and there it is. Unfortunately, none of us have the SO # off this truck since the original chassis was rolled! Looks like you had a pretty good trip! I'm planning on coming down to your area either this Friday or Saturday, or next Friday maybe. I lack a lot of stuff from Spartanburg & Greenville counties.
