When I found this back in 1991, I didn't believe it and I still don't today... in the village of West Salisbury,Somerset Co., PA. on State RT. 669, this was apparently the AAA wrecker for the West Salisbury Garage and Machine Shop.
The front part looks like it came off a WWII Half-track and that is real armor plating on there. It was the Xmas holidays and the place was deserted, but I would be curious as to what's under the hood to power this beastie?

This wasn't a Half-track, but it was built by the same folks. It's the cab and chassis from a White M-3 Scout Car. The front doors on a Half-track were different.

I've always wondered- what is that roller on the front bumper for? I've seen them on half-tracks and now this picture of the scout car. Is it in case it's traversing in a ditch or grade, that the front bumper doesn't hang up- i.e. the roller will 'roll' the front over the hill?

Guilty plea puts Hudson towing company out of business after 85 years
NORTH BERGEN -- HighPoint towing made headlines in December when its owner and others were charged with launching stolen trucks from a cliff to get recovery fees, but a guilty plea yesterday on unrelated charges yesterday ended HighPoint's 85-year history, officials said.
