TEXAS RIGS
Like the North Texas stuff. Thanks for sharing it.

I believe the Lewisville '89 Sutphen at Reserve Truck 7 was the former Truck 161.

Hi Larry

Yes until two weeks ago the ALF/LTI was Truck 161 and the Sutphen was Reserve Truck 166 at Six. This was due to Central not having space for the Reserve Truck. The Sutphen did serve Truck 161 before the ALF was purchased and a nice ALF Pioneer II no pump or tank 75ft Snorkel was Truck 8 (reserve truck).

How fast do they need to pedal to get it to be efficient? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

When at the local Pierce dealer to check on one of our apparatus in repairs I caught a couple of rigs...

1st apparatus is reportedly the most expensive ladder tower ever built by Pierce. It is a 2009 Pierce Velocity 100' ladder tower with 2000GPM Waterous single stage pump, Class "A" foam and CAFS (All piped to the aerial), 2 remote control deck guns, remote control thermal imaging camera mounted to platform, etc.

Chauffeur side...

And the price tag is supposedly in the $1.4 range (And we ain't talking earthquake richter scale).

The other apparatus that was in for service belonged to the Village Fire Department. They are a career department operating from 1 station in a very affluent area comprised of about 5 or 6 villages all of which are surrounded by the City of Houston on all sides. This particular apparatus runs automatic-aid into the City of Houston just like a HFD truck company (boxes, jaws calls, elevators, etc.).

I forget the year but it is a Pierce Dash 75' quint.

Chauffeur side (As they were moving it as shown by the dust cloud)...

Suburb of Houston on the west side. They operate from 3 stations with a 4th planned. They are a volunteer department with a part-time duty crew during week day hours and provide ALS transport in addition to fire suppression and rescue services.

They are unique, at least for Texas, in that they straddle 2 different counties, Fort Bend and Harris, and operate as part of an Emeregency Services District (ESD). In turn the ESD then contracts with the fire department to provide services. Previously the apparatus and stations were department owned but sincce the creation of the ESD all capital equipment has been funded and owned by the ESD. All in all they are a very well funded department to say the least.

Also they are currently an all Pierce department front line operating 2-'07 Pierce Dash pumpers, 1-'04 Pierce Lance pumper, 1-'05 Pierce Dash 105' Quint and 1-Pierce Dash rescue in addition to the aforementioned '09 Pierce Velocity 100' ladder tower.
