That's one of our "www.antiquefirebrigade.com" magnets.

Their rig was a Water Chief, not an Aero Chief. I could be wrong, but I think an Aero Chief was a snorkel.

Here is what I got...

Hi Jeff:

The rig you are referring to was once an American La France 75' Water

Chief. The Encinitas Fire Department operated it as a truck company

until the aerial ladder was no longer able to be certified. The aerial

ladder was removed in 1994 and it was converted into an engine by KME in

Rialto. We operated it as a reserve engine until it was replaced.

Attached are some pictures of it when it was in service as our aerial

device.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Cool! Did he send along any good pictures of it? I'm still curious about what it looked like as a Water Chief.

Thanks for taking the time to write them about it. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

You are correct, Jeff. My error. Thanks for the clarification.

There are pictures of Paxton's with the ladder still on it on their website, townofpaxton.net. It's under town departments, fire department, photo gallery. It is in the last picture.

About that ... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

After a good year of owning and showing it, we sold it to a new home. We "downsized" to a 1951 American LaFrance 700 Series!
