I am not sure why they call the fire department in Pulaski is called Ringold, There are three departments in Oswego County that go by similar names instead of the villages they protect. Ringold is Pulaski Enterprise is Phoenix Defiance is Altmar I have been told the story about Enterprise/Phoenix, although it has been a while, it had something to do with keeping the department and village separate so the village wouldn't get sued for something the department may do or for that matter didn't do. I suspect the stories for the other two village departments are similar. Phoenix is now independent from the village but the other two are still "village departments to the best of my knowledge.
