It is also a very tight fit for the trucks in the station. According to the guys that work there the slide is the source of many injuries if you don't go down it just right. On a side note Station 251 in Gilbert, Arizona has slides in the station. One on each side of the apparatus floor.

Its a unique station and is VERY cramped inside, and the crew told us that it gets struck by lightning often which makes a very loud noise throughout the tower.
