Engine 8, at Station 2, is the newest piece in the department. It is a 2007 Pierce Contender 1250/1500/30F Pumper. I couldn't find the Pierce number on it.
Mark ... Rio is a little community between Stuart and Jensen Beach, as you cross the bridge going north on US 1 you bear right on 707 and follow that and staion is on the left in the Rio comm.
I lucked out and found this beast yesterday. It was purchased by Palm Beach Gardens, FL Fire Rescue for use by the city. It's a 2005 Peterbilt fuel tanker that carries 2000 gallons of diesel fuel and 1000 gallons of gasoline. It will soon be built in 1/64 scale by yours truly.
I "borrowed" this picture from David Iman of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue in Florida. He's "photographed" one of our newer engines and rescues. Trust me, like this, these rigs are quite at home in their neighborhood.
Today I went out galavanting with no particular destination in mind. I got a picture of a 2002ish Int'l/EVI rig now owned by the Palm Beach Gardens, FL Police Dept. It's a former rescue rig from their fire department. Now being used as a SWAT truck, it still sports all of the cool lights and the Q of the rescue rig.
Also today, I picked up a new lens for the camera. I got lucky and was able to shoot the two new Striker 3000's of the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue station at Palm Beach Int'l Airport. They are the first Oshkosh rigs bought by the department after operating for many years with only E-Ones. Dragon 2 and 3 are identical models and have 2000 gpm pumps, 3000 GWTs, 420 gallon foam tanks and 500 # of Purple K. Dragon 2 is Oshkosh #114209 and Dragon 3 is #114210.
I'll definitely be having decals made to apply to a TWH model.
Well, yesterday, I went hunting for a loose Gremlin, and lo and behold I captured it! These will be before some of y'all's time but this one is a 1974 AMC Gremlin built or outfitted by Hurst Equipment Company. I'm told that there were only 3 of these made and that this is the only one still alive. It still has the original Hurst tools in it. After finding someone to come out and show me the critter, the guy arrived and said, sure, I'll pull it out but I have to move about 4 trucks out first to get to it. He did that and I photographed away. After he pulled the Gremlin out, he told me to go ahead and move it whereever I wanted it for pictures. So, as you can imagine, I didn't turn down the offer to drive it. It has only 15,000 miles on it. Thing purred like a kitten. So, here it is, the Murray County, GA Search & Rescue Team's Gremlin.
