I was going to pass up these next 4 photos but they caught my interest.

Aerial test in 1941 for a new American LaFrance aerial 4 section TDA



The Tractor is a ALF 600 (?) it has wrighting on the doors but I could not make it out.



What this test is doing is filling the tips of all 4 sections with water to the failure point.

The last photo shows the aerial dropping

What ever happened to the Aero Cheif thread?

That's the prototype which eventually sold to Berkeley, CA. It was the only one built with the split windshield and hydraulic cradle. Also, one of two built with Daybrook booms. The ALF produced Aero Chief boom was finally ready by the third rig.



Not sure about the Aero Chief thread, but the website is still alive and well.

The top shot is typical of many American LaFrance commercial crash trucks that were built for export. I've never seen this particular rig before, but my guess would be South America.



The bottom shot is an International R-Series for Broome County Airport, Binghamton, NY. Will scan factory shots when time permits and post.

No problem. It is a pleasure to post these photos. I sure wish I could find a cache of Hahn factory photos. I know there out there, but I have trouble finding them.

Brunswick 1956 ALF Chevy 7700



Notes on the photograph saw this was from Maryland but I checked Brunswick's web site, and this truck was not listed.

Any ideas?

Well Frank, it's listed in their history section... An interesting anecdote about this rig is that it was paid for by a concert given by country star (and future sausage maker) Jimmy Dean. (from the book: Firefighting in Frederick County)

It was a 750/500, sold for $500 in mid-80's, body scrapped and chassis used for hauling wood.

Here's a J.Floyd photo I've posted before of it in 1983 after it was slimed.

Another photo of this appears in Fred Crismon's 'Fire Engines' book.

There is a York FD in Livingston County NY, but I don't have anything further on this one.
