Loudoun's HAZMAT 619 in South Riding had a graphics "makeover" in December of 2009.

HAZMAT 619 is a 2004 Spartan Gladiator built by Super Vacuum Inc. (SVI) out of Loveland, Colorado.

When a HAZMAT call comes in, the crew from Engine 619 moves over to the HAZMAT, the ambulance crew staffs the HAZMAT support unit (a Ford E cargo truck), and Tower 619 also responds.

A special thanks to Ray Muth and Brent Harne (both on firepics) who took time out from their day to move the HAZMAT around for photos. Thanks guys.

A favorite station of mine in Loudoun is Moorefield (Ashburn) Fire Station 23.

The new Engine 623 is this 2009 Pierce Velocity with 1500/500/50 and job number 21934.

A couple of unique features to E-623 that are not common in this area.

Note the rounded headlights.

Also a Super-Chief siren on the front instead of a Federal Q. You definitely know it is Engine 623 going on a call.

It is in the same complex as FS 23. First building off of Red Rum Drive (on the Wax Pool Road side) and in the back corner. Nice area for a mid afternoon photo.

Patrick,

The two new tankers are in the county currently at the warehouse being readied for service. Tanker 623 will be in the current county colors. Tanker 605 for Hamilton is a bit different - red and black.

Stupid question but...Isn't the front end on E623 that of an Impel? Like the 2 assigned to the academy.

Corrections welcome.

The two assigned to the academy are twin 2008 Pierce Contenders 1250/500 - Engines 690 and 691.

It does look like an Impel (round headlights) but I am not up on the other differences between it and the Velocity. In my opinion, neither look as good as the Contender or Arrow XT though.
