Tom,

It is Vassalboro heading north from Augusta, not sure if it is heading towards the Academy or not.

Never knew Boston rostered a Ford C/Bean. Squirts & hose wagons (2nd pieces w/pumps), for sure. Is this one of the "strays" (i.e. ex-Whitman,MA ladder) that has erved at the Fire Brigade on Long Island? Or is this a "clone" with Boston markings for the parade/muster circuit (since few, if any, real ex-Boston rigs live that long <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />). Experts? Please?

Boston never ran a Bean, obviously a clone rig. Had a couple of Ford/Sutphen rigs, a Ford/Maxim/Pierce squrt, and of course the Ford/E-ones.

yeah I think I know where it is, be on the left hand side of teh road if it's the same place I'm thinking of, alot of older ALF's and commercial cab/chassis stuff. Haven't been that far north in a couple of years and was before I started getting the picture bug LOL

While looking through some of my older photos, I ran across this relic and thought I would post it. The relic sat behind Mountain Home,NC's main station for a while and the intention at the time was to place the truck in-service and apparently that didn't pan out.I shot this back in 2003 and haven't seen it since so any info on its whereabouts would be great. I want to say it served on Long Island, but I can't remember for sure.

Quote:My guess is that a door off of a Boston rig was acquired for the apparatus pictured. Although the paint is faded on the entire apparatus, the "Boston" door is a noticeably different hue than the rest of the rig.

You might be on to something there. The Ford emblem on the cab face was not in use at the same time as the one on the door with the reflector in it.
