I believe that is an ex-Compton, CA Crown pumper and unknown Mack CF. These are at a storage yard and being sold by Fire Etc, a used truck/Fire equipment dealer. Way over priced for the age and condition, that's why they have been sitting for so long.

Hey Dan is that located on Rt30? If so it may be one of Manchesters Engines. There is a guy who lives up there who owns their old Hahn, Ford brush unit and old ALF. Maybe thats it. Shot in the dark

No I don't think it's on 30. I think it's in lower Carroll Co. Wasn't Dickie Y. looking for an old LaFrance that belonged to Manchester? or is he with Hampstead? I forget.

I asked the guy who took the pics to take me to see it. I told him to to look for a model and serial # too. Arbutus original engine was a '27 ALF very similar to this. Any guess on the year/model?

I don't think it belonged to Manchester. They had several Seagraves including a safety sedan pumper. Cockeysville had a ALF similar to this that went to Jacksonville and was still around in the 70's.

Wet water as I understand it is just water and a small amount of foam. What it does is enhance the water making it wetter. Works great on hay or barn fires or anything that has a deeply seated base. The foam allows the water to get to the base of the fire quicker and thus getting a quicker knock down. This device is most likely where they would introduce the foam into a handline.

I noticed this one in Edgecomb, ME earlier in the summer, but didn't have time to stop. As it was, when I could stop all I had was my cell phone camera. 1974 ALF Pacemaker, sitting outside the firehouse on Route 27. This was in service until sometime earlier this year. Had a For Sale sign earlier, but gone now.

I found this one last weekend on a used car 'lot' on 1A in Lucerne-in-Maine (look it up!), just outside Ellsworth. It's a 1977 Snorkel 85'. I'm guessing probably Oshkosh/Pierce on the chassis and body, but the only plates I could find said 'Snorkel.'

I had spotted it earlier the night before, and I finally got back to shoot it around dusk. In the rain. Narrowly missed striking a deer with my truck, too. The things we do for pix. . .

I really should do my detective work before I start posting. The nearest city to Lucerne-in-Maine is Bangor. Firenews.org lists a 1977 Snorkel 85' as a reserve rig there. I'd bet that this is it. If anyone has a S/N list, perhaps this will help:

I know it's not a fire Relic, but it sure was interesting. It has some sort of pump, a tank, and an elevating device. Who knows, it could have a future in the fire service. (Yes, I know it's a de-icing truck.)
