I am looking for more information on the following unit. This is X-Pond Hill - NEE-Wilkes Barre Twp, PA - E-2.
Built 1/1976
Serial #HCP126107620
GPM 1000 (?)
GWT 500 (?)
I really would like to find pics of this unit when it first went in service or from its first few years in service. The Hahn factory PIC would be awesome.
I am really interested in getting four questions answered.
#1: Was the porta tank original equipment or did it have hard suction hose trays?
#2: Was the original siren a Q2B or was that added at a later date? If added later what was the original siren?
#3: What types of lights was it originally equiped with (By the hose reel - missing in this photo but can be found on either of the two links below.)
#4: What brand of paint did Hahn use? I would like to color match it, I have the code but need to original mfg name.
I took this PIC of the unit on the day we purchased it. Sorry for the quality but due to a flat tire it was not able to be moved. It is in running condition and only has the flat tire to be repaired. She will head west in the spring and be painted into fresh orange & white.
kris if i remember it correctly it did have 2 hard tubes on it where the air pack bags were added in theit place later on, the q is off the ashley american lafrance, originally it had the chrome federal g on it. where is it going to?????
thanks

I saw the yellow bags and assumed it had a port a tank, I never realized it was for air packs.
The truck is going to be a show truck now; she is coming to Michigan May 1st. She will join our 56 International Howe X-Mocanaqua, PA. The 56 will get a frame off restoration and this will be our play toy until she is done. More than likely we will repaint & fix body issues in the spring but for the most part no other work is needed right now. Once the 56 is completed perhaps I can convince my brother and dad to do a frame off on her as well. I am very much into completely overhauling trucks where they are more into mechanical and exterior appearance of the classics.
Now I just need to find room to park the X-Detroit American LaFrance TDA my brother still wants to purchase, and I have a 56 Cadillac Superior ambulance I want to purchase.

The 56 "Monica" is still there, the trucking company wants to wait until May 1st to pick her up. Since they are giving me one hell of a discount whatever they want is fine with me. We were out there last week getting a good cover on her for winter.
We purchased her in 1999 and parked her on my uncles property (Pond Hill) until we had all the funds to do the restoration properly. Unfourtanetly the old cover was lost in a bad storm, the good thing is besides more surface rust, there is no rust thru that was not there when we purchased her.
From talking to guys that worked on her mechanically the pump may need to be replaced. It was frozen and welded at least twice. But since we plan on doing a total frame off this is not much of a problem for me. When I get both rigs back here in the spring I will start threads for them in the memebers restoration area with plenty of PIC's. Perhaps I'll start a thread before then with current PIC's.

The pump on the 56 international is the one that has problems. (I would love to see the parade pic of her.)
The Hahn is in amazing shape at least in my mind. She needs some clean up and a repaint but not much else really. With yours and Dave's info we will probably change out the siren and add hose troughs. Oh yeah I need to find a bell for her. She has a flat tire which will be fixed, needs new batteries, and the tank has a leak but only when you fill it to capacity. We will probably fix the tank once we get her back to Michigan. But otherwise for now at least she will be parade ready quickly. Best of all Michigan has few Hahn's and even fewer Orange & white apparatus so we should gain lots of attention with her.

You are very right; when I was out there I saw the green or lime colored Ford nice looking truck. But ever since we purchased Moc's rig from them the prices they wanted for used trucks went thru the roof. Plus it seemed to me that they were stripping them of parts and selling those separately, something I despise to see done with a rig that can be saved.
