We use wet water all the time on my department, it makes the water thicker and causes the water to flow slower down the surface of an object allowing the water to saturate the area or object. It has the same look as foam but more like a soap product, it will sud up when put into a water tank when (70% less than foam), unlike foam it can be added to trucks tank, and cleaned out with 1 or 2 flushes of the tank. Unlike foam it will be in there for 20 tank loads. We use it for small forestry applications, bark mulch fires in the mall parking lots, and is put in all our APW's. It has been around longer than foam and is cheaper, and safer for the enviroment. Wet Water has a long shelf life before it dries out or goes bad. Foam is only good for 90 days once it is opened and has to stay out of sunlight.

That is definatly a Oshkosh/Pierce, We just got rid of our 1969 same thing except ours was a '75 and had a pump. Looks in great shape. I would imagine it has had a paint touch up, they tend to rust a bit.

Still owned by the state. Now at Spring Grove. As I understand it the Supt. is very into the history of the place and keeping as much intact/original as possible. They are restoring the old firehouse right now and are going to put the engine in when done. Engine is supposed to keep the Crownsville markings. They will use it for Santa, parades, etc.

That truck is Bangor Maine's old snorkel......replaced this past year by a 2009 Pierce Velocity 100'RM......

Found this Continental Compac in Poughkeepsie, NY on a construction site. The lot was fenced off, and the guys working there were having some type of meeting, so I was unable to get any info, but the body looks like it was originally slime yellow.

After looking at an old FAJ from July/August 2000, I think that these rigs look alot like the new Pierce Velocity's. Any body else see a likeness?? Different looking rigs but cool in a way!

We had a load of these Compacs locally in the RI/Worcester County pocket. Lime green wasnt exactly one of the colors I've seen over the years. Lynn ran lime but I don't remember them running a Compac and Norfolks was red



BUT if anyone wants the ONLY tandem axle Compac/Continental will be up for surplus soon. North Smithfield is going to be getting a Int'l/Pierce soon and the old tanker will be going buh bye.
