I probably won't get out anymore before the spring, but if you can wait that long, we can make a trip out of Frederick County with all the new rig. I got a couple contacts.

Sounds good, Shoop. I wouldn't time before the spring anyway, we'll definitely make plans.

Will they be running two TDA's out of that Frederick station now?
Reply
John,

They have and currently do. They have a Spartan/LTI as I believe Truck 42, and then a newer Seagrave as the current Truck 41.
Reply
Shoop Jr,

You got them backwards. The Spartan/LTI is T41 and the Seagrave is Truck 42.

If you let me know when your headed to Frederick I can set you up with friends of mine out their.

Question for somebody. Aberdeen Proving Grounds had their two older Pierce Trucks refurbished into new ones. Now they have purchased a brand new one. Are they adding a third truck to the facility, or will they be replacing one of the other recent refurbed ones?

Pat,

Where did you here they were buying a new one? The two they had were refurbished to Pierce Arrow XT Cabs.

Tim,

Refer to post #1018. The aerial above is different from the last one they received. I copied the specs from Pierce's site, and there is no mention of any old components being used on this one. They were suppose to have received the other glider kit shortly after the first one. This is why I'm asking. Did something happen with the other glider kit, or did they just decide to go with a new aerial?

The word on the street is that the Velocity for Carroll Manor will most likely be assigned to their substation as Rescue-Engine 28. Apparently, there is not enough room on the new unit for all of the equipment from the current squad.

Tim;

There is 2 different Arrow Aerial chassis units a APG...

22183 is a ARROW-XT .... all new construction and is lettered as T1231

The Glider Kit Rebuild is a "OLD" style cab forward ARROW chassis that has the engine in the crew cab. The glider kit IS NOT an Arrow-XT and is lettered as T1232.

Not sure if APG is round 2 aerials or what the situation is....

Tim W.,

Thanks for the info. It helps. Hopefully I can make it down there in the spring for some pictures. One of their firefighters told me they both were going to be glider kits, thats why I couldn't figure out where the brand new one fit into it.

Pat,

I hope you know someone at APG.When another local photog and myself tried to get photographs on the Arsenal Side(where 1231 is) We were given a long story why we couldn't take pictures and were sent hunting for some office on the main proving grounds(that we never found) we had to go get permission from someone in that building to take pictures. Its a big hassle.

Please forgive the quality of this picture of a picture but the Fredrick TDA was the first Arrow XT that I have seen with the Command Zone multi-plexing which has recently become an option the this chassis.
