Thanks for the information Marc.

Speaking of Engine 74, are they running a '00 Freightliner? If so, who finished the body on it?

Thanks in advance.

Larry, Engine 74 is in this former Belle Glade Fire Department 2000 Freightliner/Sutphen 1250/1000 Pumper. It was built for Belle Glade before they came into the county department.

Today, I took advantage of the clear sky and availability of the volunteer firefighters to shoot two departments in North Carolina. First up is Valleytown-Rural Vol. Fire Dept. in Andrews, NC.

Valleytown-Rural has 3 stations in use and another building that has no apparatus but is just used to store hose, etc.

First up is this 1975 Ford F750/Bean 750/750 pumper as Engine 2955 GSO#9617.

Next up is this 1989 Ford F800/EEI 1000/1000 pumper as Engine 3153, possible GSO# of 8570.

If any of you know where some of these rigs have come from, feel free to chime in and let me know.

This one, I've attached two pictures of it. One is lettered for its previous home in Manchester VFD in Carroll County, MD. The other is its new home as Valleytown-Rural Engine 3051. It's a 1994 KME 1500/1000 Pumper GSO#2011.

And next in Andrews is Engine 1351, a 1985 Ford F800/EEI 1000/1000 pumper. No GSO number found but looks to be an original Andrews rig.

And my favorite of the day was this former Eustis, FL rig, a 1975 Sutphen 1000/300/85' Platform as Aerial 1381. No GSO number found.

There was one more rig at Andrews, a 1966ish International pumper of some sort. It was in an adjacent maintanance barn and couldn't be started or photographed although I'd really like to get it one day. It too was original to Andrews.

That's all for this trip folks.

Great shots Mark! According to Andrew's database, the Sutphen has #HS-1041. The International is a 1966 model with a Luverne body 500/0 #9496. Looks like Valleytown's new station is nice, a big improvement from what they were in previously.

The other Valleytown Rural station that "stores hose" also houses a Ford C/Grumman used engine, a Ford F-750/Carl R. Dickert tanker, and another F-750/FMC engine. Possibly one more truck. I thought it was empty too until I stopped and peeked in the windows on my last trip out there this Spring. Great photos though!

The Ford C/Grumman is in the new station but wouldn't start. They told me that the station that you're talking about is waaay up in the hills beyond where any of their folk live. It wasn't feasible for them to keep it open. It may have some stuff in it but they told me, as you said they would, that it didn't. They were waaaaay cordial though in helping me get everything I got.

Thanks Bodford for the other information!

Neat old truck. Didn't know Ft. Pierce ever had one. Wish they still did!

While not the best of sunlight conditions, I was recently able to photograph the apparatus of the Martins Creek, NC VFD in Cherokee County. First up is a Engine 2551, a 1998 Ford F800/E-One 1250-1000 pumper GSO#13966.
