That #769 Chevy sure looks like a Frazer box to me :-) John Anderson San Antonio, TX
Im pretty sure 769 is a Frazer remount <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I think it's on the lot here in SA as that is an SA unit number. 705 is frontline Austin unit so it looke like Austin is getting Sprinters now. I know some of their Fords were getting rough and up in miles.

San Antonio Fire Department EMS Command 2009 Chevrolet Suburban #8398
That's sharp looking. Ill have to keep an eye out for it. In some ways my wife preferred the big SUVs over pickups as a supervisor ride...but the pickups are good also..each has it's plusses I guess. Seth Granville

These were caught on their way into town by the airport. These will be the first new Type 1's in Austin EMS since the early 90's. These two will be run on a trial bassis to idnetify any issues and see how they hold up. We put approximatly 50,000 miles a year on our medium duty ambulances and retire them at 200,000-250,000 so these would probably need to remounted every two years or so negating some of the cost savings. Also there is not enough storage space on these units to carry the equipment of one of our Rescue, Tactical, or HazMat units so I dont forsee these being used for the entire department.
AWESOME! I've been waiting for these to come in, thanks for the photos! They look great!

Thanks to ninjamedic2293 for the heads up! I had been waiting for these to come in, figures they would while I was on vacation! Here's a shot I managed to get, hopefully I will be able to get better shots in better lighting in the future.

Those are sharp. We ran into a Val Verde crew at Main Meth awhile back .Nice guys.
Havnt seen too many on Dodges. What was a reasoning for the chassis compared to Ford or Chevy? On the driver side of that rig what is the louvers for up high?
For shfd739:
Corpus Christi has run medium duty Internationals, Freightliners, C5500 Chevrolets and more recently F350 Fords and now the 4500 Dodges. I think there was a repair issue with a Ford dealer in Corpus (but don't quote me on that) so they decided to try a couple Dodge 4500s. The louvered vent on the left rear side of the body is the 110v a/c-heat pump that runs off the shoreline plug for climate control while in the station (sorta like your Frazers but without a generator). As for Val Verde, they had been in Ford E450s. They tried a Chevrolet G3500 type III a year or so ago and appear to have now gone back to the Ford E450 chassis. The Val Verde medics do a really good job considering they only run 3 to 4 units for the entire City of Del Rio & Val Verde County!!! John Anderson San Antonio, TX |
