My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing.

it's called a flir (foward looking infared), which is a device that seeks out body heat the same things used on the police helicopters to find suspects hiding in brush, trees etc. very common on east coast airport rigs where there is alot of snow, if there were a crash the flir would be able to detect any bodys in the snow or brush areas as a result

If my memory is right. KME sales flyer had Engine 2 back in 1995 or 96 in front of a mosoluium at a grave yard.

I took this one the week Seagrave got it in !!!

I find it heartbreaking that this is the only way Philly can afford a Seagrave these days-a tool box on a pickup-sized chassis. Everybody I talked to tell me that the Seagraves from the Mid-1980's-early-1990's were the best trucks they ever bought. Nobody seems to like the KME's or the ALF's.

The 1995 and 1996 KME's are Renegades. The 2009 are Predator.

Wow Joel thats a neat find. It amazes me that the truck is in such good shape for a truck that old. Can't think would cost all that much to pick up.

Not sure if this is the newest and most travled Philadelphia section, but saw a rather interesting "refurb" today and Front & Hunting Park. Ladder 9 with a Spartan Cab, Lafrance LTI trailer, with work done by Crimson? Interesting

The local Crimson dealer was the Old ALF dealer for the department. This was a ALF TDA that was in a MVC with SQURT 43 back in March of 09. (L9/sq43 mvc) From what I heard they were one of only a couple of Manufacturers who would sell them only a tractor since the trailer only had body damage. And since a lot of FD's bought LTI trailors with Spartan/Crimson Cabs I guess they thought this was the best way to do it. But money was also an issue as the city is "broke" It goes in service today or tomorrow.

I do remember when those 2 crashed into each other, the squirt is still sitting in the back corner. The "new" Ladder 9 looked pretty good overall. It also looked wrecker friendly, with 2 glad hands under the bumper, and nice strong fork holes directly behind the front bumper.
