Is that correct, the WLF had to be refurbed after only 3 years? Was it in a wreck?

According to info on EMTBravo.net , it was done in house, in the late 80's due to rust issues. Body taken from another Fairview unit, that had a newer body on an older chassis . Ward had alot of Rust issues about this time. I think Philly's WLF's were about 1977 and they were in court with them. NONE lasted long.

Didn't North Tarrytown have a name change to Sleepy Hollow in recent years? Or was it another town or village near there?
In any event I just love the apparatus of the era before everything got closed up inside compartments.

Yes, North Tarrytown became Sleepy Hollow in the mid-1990's. It's a more colorful local name inspired by the "legend of sleepy hollow" a novel writen by Washington Irving a local author. The story was set in the North Tarrytown area. Interestingly, nearby Irvington NY takes it's name from Washington Irving who's home was on the boarder of Irvington and Tarrytown.
