The business end of the the 1962 Seagrave 'Shorty" showing the typical New Haven hose load. Two beds of 3", two 1.5" pre-connects, a bed of 2.5", and on outlying engine companies, brush brooms. New Haven has the distinction of owning the last Anniversary pumper ever built in 1970. Wallingford operates this 2000 Freightliner/4-Guys 2000 gallon tanker as Tanker 7 of the North Farms Fire Company. Much of eastern Wallingford lacks hydrants, so tankers play an integral part of the fire service there. Wallingford is a combination department with 2 career stations and 4 volunteer stations protecting 43,000 residents in a 40 square mile area. The Windsor Volunteer Fire Department runs this second generation Ferrara Rescue/pumper from its Wilson station. This truck replaced a 1981 Mack/Ranger 1500/460/40 rescue/pumper with a roof mounted foam turret, that was recently sold to a department in West Virginia. The concept behind these rigs were less apparatus responding up on busy Interstate 91. Prior to receiving the Mack, the typical highway response was an engine, rescue and utility truck. I am kinda clueless on the specs, so if anyone can help me out it would be appreciated

Waterbury's "Truck 20" is no longer at the scrap yard / gas station off of Route 8, I think they got rid of it a couple years ago. That same yard as a Bridgeport truck and also a couple of ARFF rigs down back in the years.
An interesting story was told to me about New Haven's restored Engine 15 Seagrave. That pumper was actually built without the front compartments do to the layout of the Westville fire station apparatus floor. Orignally the building was erected by the Westville Fire Assocaition prior to beceoming part of the city. I guess by "chopping" off the front compartments from the original design the truck fit into the firehouse perfectly. If memory served me correctly, the firehouse was also used as the village meeting hall and even had a jail cell in the basement (which I think might still be there!) I'llhave to see if I can ask around about more history around the rig and the Westville station. I know the firehouse was undergone several renovations over the years.
