All of the former BFD trucks are in a scrap yard in Bridgewater awaiting to be cut up.....some still ran . they are also sellin a 1960s era international/wlf pump lettered for Heath Engine 3 which works!..McDonald Industries rte 104. pics were today 5/7/2010

They actually retired a 76' International/pierce pumper a year or two before this one I (after receiving their 1st new rig from grant money) because the 64 IH/WLF was that much of a champ, regardless of how old it was. Do you have any pics of it there? Last time I saw it shortly before retirement it was in really good shape. It was on Ebay in PA within the past year. Do you know how much they want for it? Assuming it has been maintined since retirement it would be an awesome truck to have. Its funny how it went from the berkshires of MA to PA back up to the Boston area.

first, will post pics of Heath E 3 in a day or so ,beleive they want $3500 but dont hold me to it it still runs if they do not sell it they may use it for a parade truck, its McDonanald Industries Rte 104 Bridgewater Ma...these pieces were sold ,must have been posted on city of Boston site or there is a standing contract for removal of equipment guy said all were originally driven in, now being dismantled,,,sad end

old Boston Mack Photo from Ed Fowler collection [/quote] Howie, This piece appears to be a Hose Wagon assigened to Engine Co. 7. Note the double deck pipes in the hose bed. That is a two way intake seen on the right side on the body. I would say its an LS model maybe 1947 or 48.

If the photo of Engine 7 Wagon
was taken prior to 1970 than its a 1947 Mack Shop ID # 304 which served from 1947-1968 After 1970 they ran with E-26's former 1947 Mack Wagon Shop ID 300 from 1970-1975. Between 1968-1970 they ran with Engine 26's 1950 Mack/Cardox unit which was re-placed when E-26 rec'd their 1970 Ford/Maxim with a 50 ft Squrt boom.

[/quote] I believe the change was under Commissioner Christian, he also changed the color of the apparatus and the design of the seal/patch on the door. Notice the Pierce apparatus was a different color than the previous E-Ones. Many people say he was trying to duplicate a shade of red on the 40s vintage Macks, don't know about why the lettering was changed. If you notice BPD and BEMS dumped that font of lettering also. Someone else may know more specifics (Skip or yelrowekim)
Boston EMS still uses the "Boston" font for the the logo.
