1976 Mack CF-685-F10, canopy cab, 1000/500, delivered 5/7/76, Mack ENDT-675 diesel, 5-speed manual transmission. This engine has the distinction of being the first unit ordered with the new paint scheme of white over red. Purchased by the borough. Placed OOS on 8/16/06 with the intent to sell. Put up for bid on 5/24/07 by the borough. Sold to H.J. Usher of Downingtown for $5,000.

1976 International Cargostar/Hamerly, full cab, enclosed walk-in rescue. It went into service in 5/76 at a cost of$49,000. It was the first piece ordered with the new white over yellow paint scheme. It was housed on 8/20/77. It suffered minor damage in 1989 when it was broadsided while responding to a call. It was replaced and sold in 8/96 to a refurb dealer.

I think this rig was sold to the Middle River Volunteer Rescue Squad here in Baltimore County it looks just like the one they had back in the mid to late 90's.

1980 Ford LN-8000/Sanford, 4-door cab, custom non walk-in rescue, 3208 Cat diesel, automatic, 2x12.5 KW Onan generators, 18000 watt light tower, and a 4 bottle 6000psi cascade. It was purchased used in 1988 from the Lower Southampton Fire Company (Bucks County). In 2003 had D.G. March & Associates of Pottstown install a 25KW pto generator, removing the old generators. The rear leaf springs where replaced in 2004, and the motor blew in 2005. Replaced in late 2006 and permanently placed out of service due to poor condition and unsafe to be on the road. Finally sold in early 2008 to Abel’s towing of Malvern who took the body off of it and scrapped it, hope to use the chassis as a tow truck.

1969 Mack CF-600/Grove/John Bean, canopy cab, 750/500, 75 ft steel mid-mount model 3S75 Grove steel aerial ladder, the first canopy cab purchased by the company, FMC high-pressure fog 70 GPM pump, ladder painted white, 6V71 Detroit diesel, manual transmission, 4 Kw generator, 50 ft Bangor ladder, housed 7/4/70. It is said that this rig was Bean’s first venture into the aerial market and Norco bought this as a demonstrator. In 1994 sold to Firehouse 66, a dealer from GA.

1982 Sutphen, canopy cab, 1500/500/50. First unit ordered with the all white paint scheme, 8V71 Detroit diesel, automatic, 4.5 KW generator. It was housed on 10/13/83. A green Scotchlight body stripe was added in 1992. It was suppose to go out for refurb in 1996 but the bids came back over the $50,000 which was allocated for it. It was sent out to a local body shop in January of 1998 for some cosmetic body work to repair some doors and compartments. Replaced in 2000, did not sell until 5/01 to Wynne Fire & Rescue Equipment, Greenville, TN who sold it to a fire company in NC.

1975 Hendrickson 1871S/Pierce/LTI, canopy cab, 1250 GPM, 85 ft steel rear-mount ladder-tower. It was purchased used in 1990 from Northeast Fire Apparatus for $177,000. It was sent to LTI who took the ladder off and fabricated a new ladder turntable. During one of the first training sessions it was out on, the ladder was extended and got stuck. It had to be manually cranked down. In 11/98, while on a training exercise on the old Pennhurst State School and Hospital, the truck tipped over when the outrigger was deployed over an old steam viaduct which they did not know about. While the ladder was being extended, the culvert collapsed, and the trucked tipped over with the ladder coming to rest on a building. The ladder and rigger were damaged. Repaired and placed back into service prior to 6/1/99. Housed 9/30/2000. Taken OOS in 2006. Donated in 1/07 to the Western Center for Technical Studies which is located on Gratersford Road in Limerick Twp (Montgomery County). The Pottsgrove, Spring-Ford, and Upper Perkiomen school districts send students there. I guess they never took it because on 12/15/08 they either donated it or sold it to Queen City (Schuyler County, MO).

1972 International Loadstar/Car-Mar, full cab, 600/3800, it was purchased used in May of 1986 from the Clover Farms Dairy, former stainless steel elliptical milk tanker, tandem rear axles, sent to General Tank of Berwick for refurbishing, total cost was $34,000. It was placed into service on 10/1/86, delivered with the incorrect name on the cab doors-Spring City Fire Co. No. 1. Taken out of service in late 1998. Finally sold in mid 1999 to a local construction company. Seen fall of 2000 at a construction site in Thorndale, still lettered and all emergency lights on it.

1983 Ford C/FMC Roughneck, full cab, 1000/1000, covered booster reels. It was repainted by New Lexington in late 1996. It was returned to the company in December and sent right back to the plant because the company did not like the paint job. It was placed back into service on 2/22/97. Sent out again in early 2001 to a local body shop to correct the mess New Lexington made. It has a 4 KW generator. Taken out of service on 9/12/05 and was donated to Harrison County, MS on 9/17/05 after their county lost half of their equipment in Hurricane Katrina. It is based at Long Beach, MI station. It left on a lowboy with Ludwigs Corners 1984 Ford C/FMC engine on 9/17/05.
