Thorndale Fire Company (Chester County) 38-1 [/quote] Info on this rig. 1982 Sutphen, Cincinnati canopy cab, 1500/750, top-mount. This was the first engine ordered by the company with many first's for the company. It had a canopy cab, top-mount controls, and the new paint scheme of white over lime green. It was housed in 7/30/83 at a cost of $122,000, Detroit 8V-71 diesel, 5-speed manual transmission. It was not one of Sutphen's best products-poorly made-rust problems. Sent out to J.C. Moore on 3/28/96 for a $33,000 rehab which included repairing the cab rust, new diamond plate, and a total repaint. It returned on 8/21/96. It went out of service again in December of 1997 because the water tank developed a crack in it. The decision was made to replace it with a poly tank which had to be custom built. It was placed back into service on 1/18/97. Taken out of service in 07/03 – put up for sale. Placed back into service 9/18/03 since the 1995 HME/4-Guys pumper was involved in the accident. Placed back into service again in 04/05 when the 2002 Spartan/New Lexington rescue-pumper had to go back to New Lexington for repairs. Back into service again on 7/16/07 when the Spartan/New Lexington went down again.
