Guilford's former downtown tanker, a 1975 Ford/Pierce 500/1000 tank, formerly Tanker 173 of the F.C. Spencer Hook and Ladder Company. The company's tower and tanker went to Fire Headquarters, while only the brush truck remains. This truck is currently for sale for the low price of $5000.00 by a private owner. The truck was in service until 1993.

The state of Connecticut purchased 34 of these Mass Decon Trailer with a grant from Homeland Security. They are pulled by Freightliner/Pierce Contender prime movers. They are located in towns/cities where there is a hospital. The prime movers are used as needed by the department they are assigned to. Sorry, no pics of the prime movers.

The town of East Haven operates this 1990?? Ford/Horton rescue unit as Rescue 4 of the Bradford Manor Hose Company. East Haven is a combination department with 3 combination stations and one volunteer station with 11 career staff on duty. They protect an area of 13 square miles with 28,200 residents. This rig was purchased used from a department across the Sound in Long Island. Anybody recognize it?

East Haven Engine 6 of the Riverside Volunteer Fire Company runs this 1980 Ford/Eone 1000/500 pumper with a top-mount pump panel. During delivery, this rig was involved in some sort of accident and was pretty much totaled. Instead of ordering a new truck, the town opted to repair the damages and accept the truck. The frame was never completely straightened, so the truck kinda rides sideways. A newer cab was added during the mid 1990's due to extensive rust damage.

East Haven also runs this 1982 Ford/Pierce 1000/500 pumper as Engine 7, the departments spare pumper. It is not uncommon for this rig running as a front-line piece for weeks, even months at a time. The foam unit designation comes from the numerous 5-gallon cans it carries. East Haven protects a sizable tank farm, a very busy stretch of Interstate 95, as well as an airport.

East Haven Squad 5 runs this 2001 Ford/Marion mini-pumper/rescue. This truck was purchased used from a department in California last year, but was only placed into service recently. The building in the background is the results of an early morning general alarm fire which heavily damaged an 8 unit condo unit. If you look close, you can see the trench cut and how the roof buckled.

The City of New Haven runs this Pierce Quantum 1250/500 pumper as Engine 8. New Haven has been running white colored apparatus since the early 1940's, and has become a tradition in the Elm City. For those who are wondering, New Haven's Quantum's are ordered without the air-actuated steps. New Haven once ran an entire fleet of Seagrave apparatus, so many in fact, they hired a mechanic away from Seagrave when they were located in Columbus OH. New Haven FD is a fully career department operating from 10 stations, with a separate maintainance/training grounds. They protect a population of 123,600 residents in 19 square miles. In addition to Yale University, New Haven has the only deep water port in Connecticut.

Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford runs this 2001 Oshkosh T1500 airport crash rig as Truck 7. SAFD is a fully career industrial department protecting 20,000 workers in a 2.8 million square foot facility. The SAFD was organized in 1940, not long after Igor Sikorsky invented his first helicopter. The Stratford plant is the world headquarters for Sikorsky Aircraft.
