CrossBronx, I read a document on the City of Boston web site about the new engines and trucks, and that is in fact the case. KME came in at $418 and change for the pumpers and E\-One at $773 and change for the RM trucks.

Sutphen was actually the low bidder but their service center is too far away for the bid specification.

KME had a 5 year bumper to bumper and the new pumps also have Waterous pumps too..asked the KME guy why and he said waterous gave them a 5 year service plan on the pump also...

Quick note on ther Boston rigs Stuphen was the lowest bidder on the engines but were not choosen because they do not a a dealer in Mass. The clostest dealer is near Hartford Ct and I guess it was to far. KMW was the second lowest bidder and has a local dealer in Ma so they won the bid.

Really, Sutphen was the lo bidder? That kind of urprises me, they must be looing for another "flagship" department since Columbus started ordering engines from Ferrara. Would have been neat to see a Sutphen back in beantown!
