Montgomery, MD Truck # 6 was this 1979 Ford L/1960 American LaFrance 100' ladder truck. Mattson Collection
Wasn't this truck auctioned off at Pechins in Denbo Pa not too long ago. Also didn't it have a purple k setup on the trailer.

Not sure about the purple k.. But to add to what you wrote, it was built from a 1979 Ford L DOT dump truck, It had a tandum axle of which one was removed and the springs were welded right to the frame. This made for a very rough ride. The trailer came from a 1960 American LaFrance 100' as you said, from Silver Spring truck 1, and the ladder came from an American LaFrance 100' straight truck, Silver Spring truck 16. The truck as a whole was called the "lead sled".

A large part of my collection was purchased from a GOOD man, John Floyd. I give him FULL credit on his work, although I may miss something. Thanks John. Also Scott Mattson, Warren Jenkins, Michael Schwartzberg, and Mike Sanders. Thanks Guys.
