1981 Amer LaFr, Century series, canopy cab tractor, 100 ft tillered trailer aerial ladder, $190,000, speced to have an enclosed tiller cab however never built with it because it would not fit through fire station door, contribution toward purchase cost made by U.S. Ambassador Walter Annenberg-$50,000 challenge gift, housed 10-10-81, 6 KW diesel generator, 8V92 Detroit diesel, Allison auto trans, in 1996 offered for sale-asked $110,000, in April,1997 sold to Mt.Penn (Berks Co.),PA, delvd to Mt.Penn 5-28-97, Mt.Penn by 8-98 added cab over tillerman-retained ARDMORE lettering on bodyside behind trailer wheels, sold in 2010 for $8,000 to some private individuals from the Berks/Lehigh County area. Sold again in 08/2010 to John Urso, who is a lieutenant with the Blackwood Fire Company (Camden County, NJ). There are plans to repaint it New York Jets and New York Giants colors (not sure what the final product will look like) with the plan of the vehicle being driven up to the Meadowlands for home games.
