Quote:This is their former "Ladder 16", a 1982 ALF Century 1500/500/75' (CE-7498) that they purchased used from Ottawa, KS a few years ago. They removed the 75' Water Chief aerial and made an engine out of it.Wow quite a different machine than when Ottawa had it. Hard to believe it was replaced in 2008 with a new Pierce Velocity 100ft Tower. Ottawa purchased it used from ALF. I was always told a department in Texas rejected it. In Ottawa it was Ladder 1 and it was used only for fires and MVA's. Had a great sounding Detroit though. Ottawa set it up at a fire on a hot asphalt parking lot and it slowly fell over came to rest on the ladder tip and the fireman running the fly pipe climbed off. It was repaired and returned to service.
