The sister to the newer Tanker 612 at Lovettsville is Tanker 626.  A few posts back there were some questions/comments about Station 26 which will be the new Loudoun Heights station. 

 

Neersville is Station 16 and originally started out as a volunteer department in Loudoun County.  Long story short, with a small community, the county took over operations of Station 16.  A new county station is being built, located not far down the road from the current Station 16.  Until that new station is completed and occupied, apparatus will continue to run out of the current Station 16 with a "16" designation (Engine 616, Tanker 616, Ambulance 616, Brush 616, etc.).  Once the new station is open, units will change over to the "26" designation.  My understanding is that out of respect for the volunteers at Station 16, the decision was made to add 26 and not replace the 16 designation.

 

In anticipation of Station 26 opening, the county received Tanker 626 along with Tanker 612.  Tanker 626 is a 2012 Mack Granite/2013 Pierce 1500/3000 with job number 25932-02.  When I photographed this tanker last fall, it was not in service nor were there plans to place it into service until the new Station 26 opens this year.
