On Friday 11/2, myself along with six other members of the New Hamburg Fire District, Town of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, NY, were mobilized along with countless FDs from upstate New York to the two counties that (along with Brooklyn and Queens) make up Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk. As many of you may know, Long Island was badly damaged in the Hurri-Storm Sandy. My crew was sent to Long Beach, a barrier island that consist of a city of 32,000 people in 3.9 sq mi. I took grab shots with my phone when I could and am sharing a few. I saw dozens of rigs along the trip.
