Now I would like to add one more thing. I don't know the details of this accident regarding whether or not our brothers were seatbelted in the rig so I'm not passing judgement. However, I will say that there is NO EXCUSE for any firefighter not to be belted while on a moving firetruck. With cars today people don't always hear fire trucks until the rig's on top of them at which point they may zig instead of zagging. It only takes 2 seconds to belt up so DO IT.[/quote]
I wasn't going to chime in here, but I'll back you up. No seatbelt = ejection = BAD. I know that the guy driving the SUV didn't have a license, etc. but I suspect the two most severe injuries would have been damn near nothing had they been wearing their belts. It doesn't lessen the sadness of the death, but should be a lesson to all of us that may not belt up. If the members in question were belted, then I stand corrected.
