Brian, was always aware of 100 and 200 Series Reserve Rigs. What is going on with the higher numbers?

The higher numbers (300, 400, and 900 series) came about in 2009, after the closing of companies when there was a lot of shifting around with the frontline and spare apparatus.
The 300 series trucks are the same thing as 100 series (fully-equipped and ready to go) but are kept at single ladder stations and take on the number of the Ladder at that station. Engine 302 is kept at Ladder (Snorkel) 2.
The 400 series trucks are the same as the 200 series (stripped of equipment) but, just like the 300 series, are kept at single Ladder stations. Engine 430 is kept at Ladder 30.
The 900 series are also the same as the 200 and 400 series except they are assigned to the shops. Only Engines are designated in the 900 series. The reason (to the best of my knowledge) that they do not take on the 290 designation like the spare Ladders and Medics at the shop is because, in the winter/cold weather, they are kept in stations throughout the city where there is room so that the pumps don't freeze. Right now there are Engines 901, 902, 903, 904, 905, and 906.
