Quote:Lindsay I always enjoy your photos. These represent an extremely functional engine. Everything is low hose bed, rear booster, nice Detroit bundle, side mounted ladders, reasonable wheel base extremely functional for an aggressive quick fire ground attack. I miss the look of the Arrow. The Federal Siren looks right at home centered in the stainless band. If only departments nationwide would quit wasting money on the non-functioning Dash CF grill this classic look could be recreated. Lindsay how many Arrows are left in the RFD? I seem to remember at the hight they had three or four. They had a great looking fleet back in the day with the solid red E-One 95ft Tower Ladder the the Pierce Pumpers. Then the quints and rescue arrived.
Thanks in advance,
Rick
Rick:
Glad you enjoy the photos.
I think there may be only one Arrow left, and it is used as a training engine. One was sold to Booker, Texas, back in the fall.
Several of the drivers I have talked to liked these as they were easy to drive and easy to handle. It is also nice that Richardson went back to all red in 2005. I believe that they and Princeton are the only departments in the DFW area that are all red.
Sometimes bigger and fancier is not always better.
