Midewin Hotshots

 

The majority of hotshot crews are located in the West, but there are some exceptions. Midewin IHC is based out of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie near Wilmington, IL (50 miles SW of Chicago) and is the only hotshot crew in Region 9.

 

They use smaller Ford F550 based buggies, each carrying up to 7 firefighters and gear in place of the more common 10 person buggies.
