Sandy Springs is one of the newer cities in Georgia, incorporating in 2005. Their Fire Department began operation in 2006, responding from three former Fulton County stations (2, 6, & 18) and Atlanta Station 39. Atlanta closed 39's many years ago. An agreement was reached between Atlanta and Fulton County where Fulton Engine 4 occupied that station and responded first due to Engine 39 and Engine 4's territories. That arrangement continues today, courtesy of Sandy Springs Quint 4.
