Quote:Tell me how the Sheriff part fits into Fire Rescue..always wondered how this worked? From what I understand, Citrus County merged Fire-Rescue, 911 Dispatch, EMA, Animal Control, and law enforcement into one Public Safety Department, under the direction of the Sheriff, like a public safety director. Fire-Rescue is a combination of paid, on-call and volunteer staff, led by a Fire Chief who reports to the Sheriff. Unlike many P.S.D.'s, there is no cross-training between divisions, although Sheriff's Deputies can be volunteers. Every Firefighter I have talked with seems happy with the arrangement.
