I noticed a lot of departments in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex have been hiring Chief from outside of the agency. Plano FD is advertising for a new Fire Chief right now. I'm sure they would take internal applicants as well. To me it would make more sense to hire a chief from within the department, that person would know the department and community better.
