Accept my tardiness in responding to your great posts. Been away from the PC for a couple days. Lot to catch up on:
Thorndale
1977 Ford F-350/Pierce - custom compartmented non-walk in rescue and cascade unit. It was delivered 6/77 and housed 7/14/79. It was sold to the Martins Corner Fire Company (Chester County) in 1990. It has a 460CI gas motor, automatic, with a 12.5KW gas Onan generator. Sold in mid 2003 by MC to a paving company in Norristown (Montgomery County) for $5,500.
Marietta
1960 International S160/Howe, full cab, 750/500, delivered 6/4/60, rear fender compartments, quad headlights, eggcrate grille, V-8 gas motor, manual transmission, sold in 1984 to a dealer in the south.
Manhiem
1970 Duplex/Howe Defender, Cincinnati semi-cab, 1000/500, Detroit diesel 350HP, automatic transmission, cost $33,000, reg. no. 12970, model HR-102, termed a “custom” bur used a Cincinnati cab. It was sold in 1987 to John’s Trucks, MO for $18,000 who sold it to the Wall Fire Company (Allegheny County) who re-sold it in 1992.
Millersville
1958 International R200/Pirsch, full cab, 750/500. 3-stage pump, in service till 5/30/94. For sale in 1994, sold to an individual in upstate PA out of the fire service.
Goodville
1959 International B160/Howe, full cab, Waterous model CF-3 500 GPM front-mount pump, 500 water, rounded rear fenders, bodyside running boards, 2 large compartments at rear step, cost $9,200 new. In service till the fall of 1992 when it was replaced and sold to the fire companies secretary, William Shirk.
Intercourse
1945 International K/John Bean, full cab, HP Fog/400, 1st HP Fog purchased in Lancaster County, light duty chassis. Sold in 1950 to Muncy Creek Fire Company (Lycoming County).
Minquas
1948 Autocar C-50/U.S. Fire Apparatus, 7 man sedan cab, 750 Hale pto/200, referred to as a squad. Purchased by the borough. It was sold out of the fire service to Ted Waltz of Downingtown. Still had in 2007.
