A large percentage of the State of Georgia is protected by career or combination career/volunteer fire departments. There are a large number of countywide departments and most of them have some career people. Polk County, GA is one of the small number of county departments that is 100% volunteer. These departments are challenging to photograph, due to difficulties in locating members. In over 30 years living in Georgia, I have only managed to photograph three Polk County apparatus, until this past Sunday. Just by chance, I stumbled upon one of their members on social media and contacted him. Between his and my schedules and the weather, it took two weeks before we would meet up. Polk County's apparatus are all commercial chassis rigs from a small number of builders and there were several groups purchased together. On Sunday, I was able to photograph one apparatus from each of those groups.
