My wife and I turned down tickets to this and my boss was at the festival and left about 20 to 30 minutes before this happened. The things that are coming out about this guy are scarey. And I was angry about what happened. I love Las Vegas and I love being able to walk down the Strip and going to concerts but this has shattered for me and my wife our sense of safety. We just turned down tickets to the Little River Band at the Orleans Casino this coming weekend mainly due to fear of the unknown right now. And I know that there is no way to protect ourselves against a loony like this guy.
What, exactly, do you expect them to do? How has ANY other government stopped this kind of thing from happening? Humans are a violent species, always have been. Murders have been committed almost since the beginning of mankind, certainly long before the first gun was invented. Murder has also been illegal, pretty much since government was invented. So far, the results have been fairly good, since the population continues to rise. No law will stop those intent on committing a crime. The purpose of the law is to define the criminal act and prescribe the level of punishment for violators.
You will never find a way to prevent some loony from finding a way to kill a large group of people. It is a sad fact of life.
