This rig began its previous lives as a yellow Air Force GMC L-5500/Consolidated Diesel Electric A/S-32R-5 fuel tanker and a red International 8200 semi-tractor. A few years ago, the department acquired the tractor to replace the worn out GMC cab, drive train and front suspension/steering systems. After the necessary components were removed and shortened, the frames were spliced together, bolted and welded, with one frame sliding inside the channels of the other. Unfortunately, there was no money left over to paint either half!
